Robert Wilson

Another really interesting director is Robert Wilson. He works with this kind of abstract and highly aesthetic style, usually staying away from the usual narrative type of theatre and instead creating a visual experience for his audiences. His first and arguably best known work is "Einstein on the Beach," a 5 hour opera which has no obvious plot or dialogue. I have watched the whole thing and although it is quite difficult to sit through the whole thing at once, it's definitely one of the most beautiful and well planned shows I have watched. Rather than a narrative it is a series of tableaus all arranged carefully and purposefully.
