November 9th- Art on Campus

After finding the image used for my last post about the sculpture on Schoemaker, I found out that the new sculpture in front of Van Pelt is part of the 99 year rental of the other sculpture. Apparently, Penn is the temporary home while the museum goes under renovations- this will allow them to still be public. I honestly assumed that we owned the sculptures and never would have assumed they were widely recognized and revered. The VP sculpture is Social Consciousness by Sir Jacob Epstein.
