Recently, game company Blizzard punished a pro gamer for making a statement supporting the Hong Kong protests on a livestream. As a result, Blizzard has faced heavy backlash from fans who accused the company of protecting its business interests in China instead of upholding free speech. Since then, some Blizzard fans have also been attempting to make a character from one of their games a symbol of the Hong Kong protests in an effort to get the game banned in China, similarly to Winnie the Pooh.
