The Museum of Modern Art is about to reopen their newly renovated gallery space, with a radically different approach to to understanding modernism - particularly including extensive film. I found the passage from the article, "A new restoration of Marcel Duchamp’s “Anemic Cinema,” with its iconic swirling void, screens on one gallery wall alongside other Dadaist highlights," to be particularly interesting, as it places Dada almost on the extreme of a spectrum of film, as does the title "From Netflix to Dada." We discussed in class how mainstream Dada became, and this is a pointed example of how Dada perhaps remains its own genre, viewed dissimilar to many (if not all) other art forms, but certainly existing within it's own space.
