Abstract Art Detached

I struggle with this first assignment - creating an abstraction of a field recording - because I did not know how to to go about creating abstract art from a source material. My initial drafts were too focused on physical representations of the noises I heard, as opposed to using abstract shapes to describe the qualities of the sound.

Looking up how other artists created abstract art helped in some sense, which is how I came across the incredible video and artist featured in this blog post. It is also really gratifying to watch an artist do what they're good at. However, I found myself craving the physical sensations of paint under my fingers or a brush in my hand - creating abstract art was difficult for me now, I realised, because I was lacking any form of sensation besides the visual cues from the screen and the mouse in my hand. I feel disconnected from my piece.

How do you distil the entire abstract art process, so vivid and physical and tactile as seen in the video, to just clicks with your right index and middle finger? Still trying to figure that one out.
